Program Overview
Once accepted, students will take classes, testing preparation courses (MCAT or PCAT) and participate in academic and professional development opportunities with other P4 students.
As a P4 student, you are required to complete designated courses and other requirements. We also offer electives for P4 students in need of additional coursework to fulfill entrance requirements or further preparation before entering medical or pharmacy school(PharmD).

Art and Science of Healthcare (ASH)
The Art and Science of Healthcare is designed to offer on- and off-campus academic and professional development experiences to illustrate students future as healthcare professionals. The series can include workshops and networking opportunities, such as:
- Managing academic and personal life during your academic career
- Connecting with medical students and graduates from medical and pharmacy programs
- Interaction with guest speakers and organizations from the healthcare community
- Volunteer opportunities with Jefferson student organizations
Healthcare Practicum
Students will work with program advisors to set up healthcare related shadowing opportunities while enrolled in the P4 program. Once a student has selected an activity that has been approved by the program leadership, they will complete a proposed schedule of activities for completion of the Healthcare Practicum.
General Schedule Information
Courses and other program activities will be held most weekdays - no earlier than 8:00AM and end by 5:00PM. There may be occasional evening or weekend activities but these will be scheduled with adequate advance notice.
Certificate Completion Requirements
Certificate in Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Studies
- Completion of basic science and elective courses with grade of B or higher, including courses and electives.
- Students must earn a passing grade for Art and Science of Healthcare by fully participating in activities and satisfactory completion of related assignments.
- The Healthcare Practicum requires students to complete their approved shadowing experiences with mentors directly related to healthcare, clinical or research fields. In addition, students must participate in ‘Practicum Check-in’ sessions with their program advisor.
- Full participation in the MCAT or PCAT preparation course, including the comprehensive review.
