Course Description
The course introduces the students to the immune system as an adaptive defense system that recognizes invading pathogenic organisms and mounts a response to eliminate or neutralize foreign infectious agents. The students will be introduced to the molecules, the cells, and organs, and the processes involved in host defense against infection. An overview of basic principles, concepts, and techniques used to assess immune status will be presented.

Faculty Information
Dr. Jerome G. Buescher received his PhD degree in Microbiology from Thomas Jefferson University. He has taught microbiology and immunology for many years to undergraduate students, graduate students, and medical students. He has a long-term interest in clinical microbiology and has held supervisory and management positions in two clinical microbiology laboratories. He has developed expertise in Team-Based Learning and incorporates this technique in some of his courses.
