Health Insurance — 2008-2009 Academic Year
Thomas Jefferson University requires that all students have adequate and acceptable health insurance. If students do not already have coverage through a spouse, parent, or employer, Jefferson offers a PPO health insurance plan through United Healthcare Student Resources.

The annual premium cost will be divided between two semesters to help you budget this expense, rather than having to pay the entire fee up-front. You will be charged one-half in the Fall semester and one-half in the Spring semester. Payment must be made by the noted deadline on your
tuition bill.

- Health Discounts for Dental Care, Vision Care, Fitness Clubs, Weight Management Programs, Smoking Cessation Programs, Nutrition Counseling and Healthy Foods, Vitamins, Books, and much more. Students enrolling in the United Healthcare insurance plan will also receive a Health Program Discount Program ID Card. To Enroll in the Health Insurance Plan
- Visit the First Student website
- Select the Enroll/Waive Insurance link on the left side of the page
- Click on the link with Jefferson College of Graduate Studies
- In the School box, select Thomas Jefferson University from the drop-down menu,
and click Continue
- Complete the enrollment process and print out a confirmation form for your records.
- Your insurance card will be sent to your local mailing address as listed in Banner Web. Please make sure this address is correct.
- Within approximately a week after you complete your online enrollment, charges for your insurance will be posted on your student account in Banner Web. Please complete payment before the semester begins.
To Waive Health Insurance
- You may waive your health insurance if you are covered by a spouse, parent, or employer under a comparable plan, once approved by the College.
- Visit the First Student website
- Select the Enroll/Waive Insurance link on the left side of the page
- Click on the link with Jefferson College of Graduate Studies
- In the School box, select Thomas Jefferson University from the drop-down menu,
and click Continue
- Complete the waiver request process.
- Please note that if your alternate coverage expires during the academic year, you have only 30 days to pick up new insurance under the College’s plan.
