Below is a list of our current supported standards and minimum support guidelines.

No support for any Windows NT, 95, 98, 98SE, or ME operating systems is available. Machines running Windows NT, 95, 98, 98SE, and ME machines will not be disconnected from the network unless a security threat is detected.

Any machines running Windows 2000 or XP will be upgraded to Service Pack 4 or 2, respectively, before any other support is performed.
Operating System (PDA/Converged Device) Microsoft Windows Mobile Palm OS Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 and above Palm OS 5.4 Active Sync 4.5 Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 Palm OS 4.1 Cradle devices are "phasing out". Jeff IT will not support e-mail synchronization unless intellisync is used.

Email   Windows:  Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Outlook Express is not supported by Jeff IT. Clients using Microsoft Outlook Express will be upgraded to Microsoft Outlook 2003 before any other support is provided.

Web Browser (Windows) Internet Explorer Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 2   Internet Explorer 7.0 and Mozilla Firefox are not compatible with many University and Hospital applications and are not supported.
Remote Troubleshooting/ Desktop Management The Altiris Client, Altiris Agent, and Altiris CarbonCopy applications are required on machines connected to the Jefferson network and are required to qualify for any Jeff IT support.
Antivirus/Antispyware Symantec Antivirus (Corporate Edition, Managed Configuration) is required on all machines connected to the network and is required to qualify for any Jeff IT support.
Enterprise Calendaring JeffCal Requires a calendaring account from Hospital IS; additional monthly charges apply.
PDA Calendaring Intellisync to JeffCal (Palm OS and Windows Mobile) BES to JeffCal (Blackberries) JeffCal is the supported Calendaring system. Requires licenses from Hospital IS.

Hard Drive Configuration Windows: NTFS, Single partition
VPN Software Cisco VPN Remote Access Portal (RAP)     Requires a dial-up account from Hospital IS; additional monthly charges apply. Access to applications and printing capabilities are limited through the Remote Access Portal (RAP).
Network Protocol TCP/IP – One IP address per device per network port. Client installed hubs, switches and other network devices are prohibited. Devices not owned by Jefferson are not permitted on the network, and all devices must have a proper record in Asset Registration, and a silver asset sticker.
Network Authentication  Windows: All users must use their TJU-MST domain accounts to log in. A Client Access License (CAL) is required for all new PC and Macintosh purchases.
Macintosh: TJU-MST authentication is required for network share access and will be configured upon request
Network Storage (Departmental shares) 10GB of storage is provided free of charge for departmental network shares. Additional blocks of 10GB are available for $240 per block per year.
Network Storage (Personal network drives/ “home folders”) JeffShare/Xythos Drive: 500MB of storage is provided free of charge to all users with a TJU-MST domain account. Additional blocks of 500MB are available for $30 per year per block.
