Catecholamines

Collection of Blood Samples

  1. A 5-10ml blood sample is needed.
  2. Draw sample in a heparinized syringe and immediately transfer to a pre-cooled (4°C) EGTA/GSA vacutainer tube (Amersham).
  3. Maintain the sample on ice until centrifuged.
  4. Spin at 1700rpm for 11min. at 4°C. (It is best to spin down sample within 30min of collection).
  5. Transfer the plasma to a clean 5ml cryogenic tube and store at -80°C.
  6. Clearly label tubes.
Shipping Samples
  1. Samples must be shipped with dry ice by overnight carrier.
  2. Place tubes in plastic bags; then pack with dry ice.
  3. Include a legible list of all samples of all samples being shipped.
  4. Call in advance to speak to lab personnel to inform them of samples being shipped. DO NOT LEAVE VOICE MAIL OR EMAIL.
  5. Ship to:
