The deadline to submit PhD applications and all supporting materials is January 05, 2013. Applications received after this date will be considered at the discretion of the admissions committee of the desired program.
Qualifications & Review of Application
Each applicant must possess or expect to receive, prior to matriculation in the School of Biomedical Sciences, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A solid background in the sciences is considered essential to success in the graduate program. The applicant is required to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Several factors are considered for admission into the graduate program. These include academic achievement at an undergraduate college or university, performance on the GRE, previous research experience and potential for success in research.
Following receipt of completed applications by the School of Biomedical Sciences, applications from prospective students possessing appropriate qualifications are forwarded for review to the Admissions Committee of the Cell and Developmental Biology Graduate Program. Interviews are requested of competitive applicants. The applicant meets with the Director of the Graduate Program, members of the Admissions Committee and other program faculty. The applicant will also meet with graduate students currently matriculated in the program.
After the interview process the Admissions Committee submits a recommendation to the Director of the Graduate Program concerning the acceptability for admission into the graduate program. Approved candidates are recommended for admission to the Dean of the School of Biomedical Sciences. Applicants will be advised of the acceptance through the Dean's office.
