TJU Commencement Information
Commencement 2012 Overview
for the Jefferson College of Graduate Studies

Dear Members of the Graduating Class of 2012

DeansCongratulations on the achievement of your degree from Thomas Jefferson University! The Commencement Exercises are scheduled for Monday, May 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. The Ceremony will be held in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center, located at 260 South Broad Street, just mere minutes from campus. To find out more information about this venue, please visit their Web site. The joint ceremony will consist of the conferral for all degrees from the Jefferson College of Graduate Studies, Jefferson School of Public Health and the graduates from the Jefferson Medical College, and will last approximately until 12:30 p.m.

We ask that graduates to report to the Kimmel Center, by 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Commencement, so that they may participate in an actual dress rehearsal of the Commencement Ceremony. Graduates will first check into their program-specific robing rooms for correct marching order, help with robing, and name announcement verifications (please note, that both PhD candidates and MS candidates are to report to the Comcast Room, on the second floor of the Kimmel Center). A continental breakfast will also be provided for the graduates in each of the robing rooms. Please enter the Kimmel Center at the security entrance located at 15th & Delancey Streets.

The doors to the Kimmel Center will open for guests to enter into the lobby area at approximately 9:20 a.m. Around 9:45 a.m., family and friends will be allowed to enter and be seated in Verizon Hall. The entrance to the Kimmel Center Parking Garage is located just south of the Broad Street entrance to the building, and may only be accessed by cars traveling south on Broad Street. In addition, there are many other parking lots available to use on the day of this event, please go to the Kimmel Center site for further information.

There are accommodations at the Kimmel Center for Special Seating or Handicapped Accessible Requests. Requests are due into the University Office of the Registrar by March 31 and provisions are limited. If your circumstances have changed after the March 31 deadline and you now need to request special seating please send an email immediately to Candace Hayden. Please note, neither Thomas Jefferson University nor the Kimmel Center can provide, loan or rent wheelchairs for guests with special needs. Medical supply companies in the area can assist with acquiring one if needed.

We look forward to commemorating this milestone in your life and wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
