December 26, 2007 - Delaware Valley Program Changes Name to Greater Philadelphia
The Delaware Valley Schweitzer Fellowship Program is announcing a name change of its program to the “Greater Philadelphia Schweitzer Fellowship Program.” The Greater Philadelphia region continues to encompass the eight county area of “Delaware Valley” which includes the five county area in Southeastern Pennsylvania, two neighboring counties in Southwestern New Jersey and the northernmost county in Delaware. This change will provide better recognition both locally and nationally of our core region surrounding the city of Philadelphia.

The recently established local chapter in Greater Philadelphia includes a variety of academic healthcare programs in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware. The Department of Health Policy at Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Medical College is honored to serve as administrative hosts to the Greater Phialdelphia Schweitzer Fellowship Program. The program's personnel are located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and include Chair, David B. Nash, M.D., M.B.A., Director, Robert Simmons, Dr.P.H., M.P.H., C.H.E.S., and Program Coordinator, Nicole M. Cobb, M.A.O.M.
Currently the DVSFP has a 19 member advisory board, which convenes over recruitment, fundraising and fellow selection strategies. Schweitzer alumni from other program sites, which now live in the Greater Philadelphia area, have been active in launching and operating the program.
