Work in Dr. Vadigepalli's lab is directed at understanding the regulatory network dynamics driving the cellular adaptive processes in mammalian pathophysiology. Through cross-disciplinary collaborative projects, we study signaling and gene regulatory networks in: central cardiorespiratory control circuits adversely adapted in hypertension, alcohol toxicity on liver repair and regeneration, and abnormal stem cell differentiation in the context of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. We use computational modeling, systems engineering and bioinformatics approaches to complement high-throughout experimentation. Trainees in the lab have the opportunity to gain experience in the computational modeling and analysis including transcriptional profiling, genome-wide localization, and next generation sequencing approaches; and experimental methods for high-throughout validation of gene regulatory mechanisms.
