Geriatrics

In 2003, the Department of Family and Community Medicine was happy to learn that the Geriatric section is now formally recognized as a 'Division' within the Jefferson Community. In 1990, the Department launched a major initiative in Geriatrics that included the establishment of a Geriatrics fellowship. Seven faculty have obtained a CAQ in Geriatrics. Residents learn from these well qualified faculty in the nursing home, geriatric assessment center and geropsychiatric unit. Each week a geriatrics conference is held. A strong didactic curriculum supports the clinical experience.
