Farber Institute makes Par with generous gift from The Farber Family Foundation.

June 2007

The Parkinson's Council held its 8th annual "Parkinson's Golf Classic" this month at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, PA.  The Farber Family Foundation sponsored the event at the very generous Par level.

This golf outing is dedicated to the caregivers of all those who have or have had Parkinson's Disease.  It celebrates the men and women who tirelessly work with those that have the disease, and who work on treating it.

According to the Parkinson's Council, "We salute these people as our '2007 Honorees'".

Tournament History

In 2000, a young Philadelphia lawyer named David Halpern combined his love for golf with his admiration for his father's courageous battle with Parkinson's disease to spearhead a golf tournament "whose proceeds would benefit Parkinson's research."

Halpern's efforts soon motivated many in the Parkinson's community including Jan Albert, a leading amateur female golfer whose mother had been stricken by the disease, as well as Rob Cantor and Jim Kay, two local businessmen whose lives had also been affected by Parkinson's.
