The Strategy: Focus Resources to Find the Cures
In establishing the Farber Institute, Jack and Vickie Farber put their faith in the belief that neuroscience research has tremendous promise for solving the greatest public health crises facing our nation, and indeed, the world. Nervous system disorders are among the most prevalent sources of disability and death in the U.S. and worldwide.
The Farber Institute for Neurosciences serves as a nexus connecting Thomas Jefferson University's wide-ranging assets in basic neuroscience and clinical neurologic research. Scientists and clinicians are now centralized at the new Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, bringing together human, technological, and scientific resources to focus on a singular common goal: finding ways to treat and prevent disorders of the nervous system.
“Researchers are now poised to make a critical impact on diseases that were previously considered incurable,” says Jack Farber. “There is no question in our minds that with the right people and the right resources, the cures will be found.”
