For Researchers > Leadership & Members
Directors, Laboratory Heads and Associate Members
The Farber Institute for Neuroscience brings together basic and clinical scientists from many disciplines. More than a dozen academic and clinical departments at Thomas Jefferson University and the nearby Nemours Biomedical Research/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children are represented among the Institute's research faculty.
Interim Director Lorraine Iacovitti, Ph.D., investigates the regulation of tyrosine hydroxylase gene expression, and is developing cell-transplant therapies using a pure population of dopamine neurons her laboratory has generated from stem and neural precursor cells. Animal testing in rat and primate models of Parkinson's disease is underway.
The heads of Farber's four primary laboratories and its 36 Associate Members are also accomplished senior researchers whose research spans basic, translational and clinical science, with a strong emphasis on molecular and cellular neurobiology and genetics.
The links below provide more information on the research of Farber scientists.
