Farber Research on Substance Abuse & Addiction
Substance abuse directly affects an estimated 22 million Americans, with wide-ranging consequences for families, communities and society at large, and a huge economic price tag. The Farber Institute's programs in this area are aimed at elucidating fundamental mechanisms of the neuroadaptative response to substance abuse and how stress influences these adaptations, and at developing therapies for opiate withdrawal and neonatal abstinence syndrome.
