Elective Blocks

Elective in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology:

Jefferson Medical Students will work closely with the Gastroenterology faculty in both the inpatient and outpatient settings during this clinical rotation. The busy consultative services see a variety of acute and chronic GI problems such as gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal malignancies and abdominal pain. Office hours with a faculty member allows a different perspective on the spectrum of digestive disorders. The student may also elect to join the hepatology service, which oversees the care of patients with advanced hepatic diseases such as cirrhosis, acute hepatitis, variceal hemorrhage and liver transplantation.
