Facilities

Clinical training for the fellowship is provided at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH), Underwood-Memorial Hospital (UMH). TJUH located in Center City Philadelphia is a 717 bed acute care facility which serves as a primary and tertiary care hospital for residents in Philadelphia and the surrounding Delaware Valley. The educational experience at TJUH is enhanced by an active liver transplantation program.

Underwood-Memorial Hospital is located approximately twenty minutes from TJUH in Woodbury, New Jersey and is a 350 bed community hospital which fellows gain additional experience in primary consultative GI and further experience in interventional endoscopy (i.e. ERCP).

The ambulatory care facilities at TJUH are those of the Jefferson Digestive Disease Institute (JDDI) a newly renovated suite which comprises the outpatient, administrative, and secretarial offices for the Academic Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. JDDI is located adjacent to the Division's endoscopy and motility laboratories, approximately 150 feet from the main hospital. The JDDI contains 15 fully equipped examination rooms, a 60 seat conference room equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment. An office for clinical fellows, equipped with current reference textbooks and desktop computers is also located in the JDDI.
