ACTIVELY ENROLLING STUDIES (updated October 2011)

Lilly Prevention Study - Phase 2 Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study of LY2300559 for Prophylaxis 4-14 migraine attacks, no medication overuse.  Study lasts 6 months with visits every 2-4 weeks.  Subject must be willing to use electronic daily diary. Must be off all migraine prevention medications even vitamins No current drug use BMI between 18.5 - 35 No evidence of serious active neuropsych disease and no history of suicide attempts

 

IV IBUPROFEN Three visits to the Headache Center Male and female subjects between the ages of 18 and 65 Subject experiences between 2-10 migraine attacks per month (during the previous 6 months) with no more than 15 headaches per month Subject is able to come for 4 hour in-clinic treatment of an acute migraine attack Subject is not taking the following medications on a regular basis:  warfarin, lithium, ACE-inhibitors, loop diuretics, thiazide diuretics, ARB's and methotrexate Subject does not have clinically significant anemia, asthma, or allergy to ibuprofen, aspirin (or aspirin related products), NSAIDs, or COX-2 inhibitors

 

 

 

CYMBALTA for the prevention of episodic migraine 4 month study; 5 study visits; 3 months daily dosing Cymbalta You may qualify if: You have episodic migraine attacks 4-10 times per month and you have less than 15 total headache days per month and Your current headache preventive medications are stable You have not failed greater than 3 adequate trials of headache prevention

 

PFO Closure study PFO is a hole in the wall that divides the top right and left chambers of the heart.  Research has shown a higher prevalence of PFO among patients with migraine. You may qualify if: You have high frequency episodic migraine (6 or more migraine days per month and less than 15 total headache days per month) Headache preventives are stable for 4 weeks and you have not used Botox within the last 4 months You do not overuse your acute headache medications AND you do not have a history of stroke or TIA

 

 

 

 

 

Preventive Headache Studies:

Preventive trials are clinical trials that test a medication for its ability to prevent or decrease the frequency, duration, and disability of migraines.

Preventive headache studies are currently being conducted at the Jefferson Headache Center . Men and women ages 18 to 65 who experience frequent migraine headaches may be able to participate in a clinical research study. The study is designed to examine the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug in the prevention of migraine headaches. Physical and neurologic examinations, as well as study drug, will be provided at no cost to qualified participants. Compensation for travel and related expenses will be provided.

Acute Headache Studies

Acute trials are clinical trials that test a medication for its ability to relieve head pain at the onset of a migraine.

Acute headache studies are currently being conducted at the Jefferson Headache Center . Men and women ages 18 to 65 who experience migraine headaches may be able to participate in a clinical research study. The study is designed to examine the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug in the relief of eligible migraine attacks. Physical and neurologic examinations, as well as study drug, will be provided at no cost to qualified participants. Compensation for travel and related expenses will be provided.

 

Cluster Headache Studies

A severe headache that affects predominantly men. Attacks are briefer and more frequent than migraine, are strictly one-sided, and usually occur in clusters that last for weeks. For more information on cluster headache visit the Organization for Understanding Cluster Headaches (O.U.C.H.), a non-profit organization formed to assist cluster headache sufferers and their families.

Cluster headache research is currently being conducted at the Jefferson Headache Center . We have a number of trials open for enrollment at any one time. If you are a cluster headache sufferer of any race and gender between the ages of 18 and 65, either in or out of headache cycle, you may be a candidate for one of our studies.
