Jefferson Elder Care
Professional Training

As  part of the Jefferson School for Health Professions, Jefferson Elder Care offers a range of certifications for occupational therapists seeking to provide better services for older adults.

Innovative Practice with Older Adults

Our Specialty Certificate for Occupational Therapists is available through online, distance learning classes. The program is available for CE credits and as a 12-credit elective for those pursuing graduate education in occupational therapy. Courses adhere to guidelines of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) and complement a number of competencies and criteria for AOTA board certification in gerontology.

Certification Training in Evidence Based Programs

Jefferson Elder Care offers independent certification training for occupational therapists interested in providing its evidence-based programs. Once certified, OT’s can offer the services for up to two years. Both services can be reimbursed by Medicare Part A or B if the client has a skilled occupational therapy need as determined by a comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation.
