Jefferson Balance and Hearing Center

Hearing loss is a problem shared by many people. In fact, it is one of the most common health conditions, particularly as people age. Most people over the age of 65 have some hearing loss. By age 80, almost everyone does. The elderly are not the only population who are at risk for hearing loss. The most common cause of hearing loss in children is otitis media (middle ear infection), a disorder that predominantly affects infants and young children. A substantial number of hearing impairments are caused by environmental factors such as noise, drugs, and toxins. Some hearing loss can be treated by drugs and medical intervention but for millions of people a hearing aid is the answer to their communication problems. A hearing aid allows you to have a better quality of life. You may find a hearing aid can help you too.

The Balance and Hearing Center within the Department of Otolaryngology shares the mission with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital to provide the highest quality in patient care, teaching, and research. Our team of physicians, certified audiologists, and technicians offer full evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for hearing loss, ear disease, dizziness, and balance disorders. We also dispense state-of-the-art hearing aid technology and custom ear molds.
