Jefferson offers its employees a variety of services and educational programs to support parenting needs.
Child Care Center
One of the first on-site child care centers in Philadelphia, the Jefferson Child Care Center has been operational since 1983. Operated by Bright Horizons Family Solutions for Jefferson employees and students, the center is licensed for 56 children, ages six weeks to five years, and is supported by Jefferson Administration in its operation, developmental programs, and continued enhancements. It is located on Jefferson’s Center City campus.

Parent & Family Education Programs
Parent and Family Education Programs are available to assist new and expecting mothers and families at no cost or discounted prices to Jefferson employees. See the full listing of course offerings.

Public programs on childbirth and parenting are also available through the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine’s Mindfulness Institute. View a current schedule of available workshops and prices.
Employee Lactation Lounges
If you are a breastfeeding mother returning to work, these private comfortable rooms, for employees only, are available to pump for your baby during your work day. At present, there are six Lactation Lounges on the Center City campus and one lactation lounge at the Methodist Campus. They are located at:
- Pavilion Building: Room 1125 , Room 1225A
- Gibbon Building: 7th Floor, Elevator Lobby (11th Street side)
- 833 Chestnut Street: University Health, Suite 205
- JHN: 1st Floor Lobby (behind Admissions)
- Methodist Campus: 1st Floor

Retail Breast Pump Program
Jefferson offers new mothers the convenience of purchasing electronic breast pumps and other breastfeeding aides through the Parent Education office. Contact Terry O’Brien RN, MSN, CCE, CBC , in the Parent Education office at (215) 955-6713 for more information.
Breastfeeding Warmline
If you are pregnant or a new mother and have a question about breastfeeding, certified lactation consultants are available to answer questions and provide additional information about many topics related to breastfeeding. all the Breastfeeding Warmline at (215) 955-6665 for assistance.
