Application files are forwarded for review to the faculty
of the respective programs when all required documentation
has been received, including:
- Application fee of $50
- Official academic transcripts (two copies each) of all
undergraduate and graduate course work
- Three letters of recommendation, preferably from individual
faculty members or pre-professional committee. Letters
from professional contacts may be submitted in addition
to, not in lieu of, letters from faculty members. Letters
should be from individuals able to assess the applicant's
scientific, academic, or other potential in relation to
graduate program requirements
An application will not be processed until all required
documentation has been received.
The application fee is non-refundable, and cannot be waived.
Transcripts and other documents submitted with the application
are retained by the College of Graduate Studies and will
not be returned to the applicant.
Providing inaccurate or false information can result in
immediate withdrawal of an application or retraction of an
offer of acceptance.
Application to Multiple Programs
A candidate has an option to apply to two graduate programs on one application
form. The candidate should clearly indicate his/her order of preference
among the programs. The application will be reviewed in that sequence.
The decision regarding each of the programs will be conveyed to the
applicant as soon as the evaluation is completed.
Reapplication
Applications for admission are kept on file for three academic years.
Candidates who wish to reapply must do so in writing and must provide
pertinent documentation to update the application. There is a reapplication
fee of $30. which must be received before the application will be reviewed.
Special Student Status
In exceptional circumstances and by recommendation of the director of the graduate program and with the approval of the Dean, a student whose academic record does not qualify for regular admission may enroll in limited course work as a "special student" with specific goals and expectations of accomplishment for a maximum period of one year. At the end of that time the student's record will be reviewed to determine whether regular admission should be accorded.
Non-Degree Student Status
Enrollment as a non-degree student provides an individual with a bachelor's
degree or higher the opportunity to enroll in a limited number of courses
for credit without formally being accepted to a graduate program at
Jefferson.
A listing of courses available to non-degree students can
be obtained from the University Office of the Registrar.
Students who wish to take a course as a non-degree student
must:
- Meet the prerequisites for the course
- Obtain the approval of an Associate Dean or the course
coordinator
- Submit a completed registration form, with signed approval
by an Associate Dean or the course coordinator to the University
Registrar's Office
- Provide 2 undergraduate transcripts and a completed personal
data form
Non-degree students
- May enroll for a maximum period of two years (6 semesters)
- May register for no more than seven (7) credits in any one semester
- May transfer a maximum of thirteen (13) credits from non-degree status to a degree program
- May apply to an approved graduate program
- Non-degree students shall pay a fee for tuition which is set by the College on a per credit basis
