Health/Health Systems Research
The broadening of traditional public health efforts to include
health promotion and disease prevention has produced a variety
of professional opportunities. This program provides core
competencies and skills needed by professionals for careers
in public health.
The objectives of this certificate option are:
- To introduce the vocabulary, public health perspectives,
techniques, and values of the discipline
- To provide instruction in the sciences underlying public
health--biostatistics and epidemiology
- To develop policy, organizational, and communication
skills essential to public health service professions
In addition to the certificate option, Thomas Jefferson University also offers a Master of Public Health Program.

Who May Attend
The wide range of professional education in public health
attracts interested persons from diverse fields. Persons
with scientific/medical background or experience who are
interested in specialized training needed for careers in
public health. Persons who may benefit from University study
in this program include biomedical scientists, medical fellows,
nurses and other health professionals, pharmaceutical or
biotechnology professionals, public health organization staff,
and mid-career science professionals seeking new career opportunities.
