Research Management

A new breed of program, designed for scientists, is required to meet management needs of the rapidly growing biotechnology industry and increasingly competitive academic research environment. In today's market, the successful leader must be both a scientist with superb experimental technique and an executive with outstanding management skills.

The objectives of this certificate option are:

  • To integrate technical expertise and management skills to advance management practice in all types of laboratories--industrial, government, clinical, commercial, and academic
  • To provide skills that enable laboratory managers and other laboratory professionals to meet demands for more productive, responsive, and cost-effective operations

Who May Attend
Novice to moderately experienced research practitioners, individuals who deal especially with administrative aspects of clinical or basic research, scientific, clinical, or marketing personnel in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries. Persons who may benefit from University study in this program include biomedical scientists, medical fellows, nurses and other health professionals, representatives of the pharmaceutical and managed care industries, outcomes researchers, government personnel, and business managers.
