The Student Personal Counseling Center (SPCC) offers confidential and
accessible contact with a mental health professional to discuss personal and
academic concerns. The psychiatrists and counselors of the SPCC are
available to discuss any type of issue including, but not exclusive to,
stress management, career concerns, problems with personal or family
relationships, feelings of depression or anxiety, eating and substance abuse
concerns.
All graduate students are eligible for three free visits with an SPCC
counselor. During the initial meeting, students will develop a course of
action with their counselor, which may include continuing therapy on campus
or helping the student connect with an off-campus provider. SPCC counselors
and providers do participate with a limited number of insurance networks.
To set up an appointment with an SPCC therapist or psychiatrist or to
inquire about our services, students can call the SPCC at 215-503-2817.
In the case of an after-hours emergency, students should call 911 or
FirstCALL at 1-800-382-2377 or go to the Thomas Jefferson University
Hospital Emergency Room (located in the Main Hospital Building at 10th and
Sansom Streets, 215-955-6840) and ask to speak to the psychiatrist on-call.
