There are two radiologic sciences baccalaureate programs: a two-year
Multicompetency program and a one-year Advanced Placement program.
Both are full-time programs that begin in the fall.
MULTICOMPETENCY PROGRAMS (TWO YEAR)
- Designed for students who do not have an education in medical
imaging or in a health discipline
- 24-month full-time program beginning in September
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Sciences is granted
by the University upon satisfactory completion of the prescribed
two-year curriculum.
- To become certified in their specialization, students must
take a national examination.

Radiation Therapy and Medical Dosimetry Acceptance Policy
for Multicompentency Students
I. Statement of Purpose
Thomas Jefferson University College of Health
Professions is committed to providing a learning, working, and
clinical environment that meets or exceeds the needs of the students.
Because of the limited number of clinical education sites for
both the Radiation Therapy and Medical Dosimetry Programs it is
necessary to determine criteria for acceptance for Multicompetency
students in both programs.
II. Scope
This policy will apply to all Multicompetency students who have
selected Radiation Therapy or Medical Dosimetry for their second
year.
III. Procedure
- Students applying for the RADIATION
THERAPY PROGRAM in their senior year must have the
following pre-requisites:
- GPA of 3.0 at the end of their first Semester
- A letter of recommendation from their current
Program Director and Clinical Coordinator/Supervisor
- Full day of Shadowing in a Radiation Therapy
Department by October
- Interview by Program Director of Radiation
Therapy Program
- Students applying for the MEDICAL DOSIMETRY PROGRAM in
their senior year must have the following pre-requisites:
- Completed Pre-requites for the Medical Dosimetry
Program upon acceptance in their Junior Year in the
Radiation Therapy Program
- GPA of 3.0 at the completion of their Junior
Year
- A letter of recommendation from the Program
Director of the Radiation Therapy Program and Clinical Coordinator/Supervisor
- A Satisfactory grade at the completion of
their Radiation Therapy/Medical Dosimetry clinical rotation.
- Interview by Program Director of Medical Dosimetry
Program
- Interview by clinical site
ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAMS (ONE YEAR)
- Designed for students who have a baccalaureate degree
including prerequisite coursework or have (50)
credits in specific courses and professional experience* or certification
for which they will receive an additional (39) professional credits.
- 12-month full-time program beginning in September
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Sciences
is granted by the University upon satisfactory completion of the prescribed
one-year curriculum.
- To become certified in their specialization, students
must take a national examination.

- JRCDMS (Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical

- JRCNMT (Joint Review Committee on Education in Nuclear Medicine Technology)
