Jefferson is internationally recognized for its year-round continuing education series offered by the Jefferson Ultrasound Research and Education Institute under the leadership of Barry Goldberg, MD, who serves as the Medical Director of the General Sonography Program.

Programs
  • Two-year Multicompetency track results in BS in Radiologic Sciences. Study two modalities or one modality plus education and health management.
    One-year Advanced Placement track for students with a BS or experience, results in BS in Radiologic Sciences

Schedule of Classes
  • Full-time for 24 months (multi-competency students) or 12 months (advanced placement students): Classes and/or Clinical are typically Mondays through Fridays, 8 hours per day – times vary from program to program.
  • Didactic, laboratory and clinical education components integrated to provide majority of classroom work in earlier semesters with clinical rotations increasing sequentially
Key Equipment

The Department of Radiologic Sciences has several pieces of state-of-the-art equipment which students use:

  • Two Energized Radiography Laboratories with active darkroom/processor, with new state-of-the-art Agfa computed radiography (CR) digital equipment
  • Six GE Logiqbook Ultrasound Machines
  • Parks Mini-FloLab Vascular Unit
  • Interactive computer software for radiography/diagnostic medical sonography education and review for national board examinations
  • Thomas Jefferson University Hospital state-of-the-art equipment utilized for Diagnostic Medical Sonography laboratory sessions

Accreditation

Thomas Jefferson University is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The educational programs of the Department of Radiologic Sciences are approved by the University administration. The General Sonography, Cardiac Sonography and Vascular Sonography Programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP) in collaboration with the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS). The Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Medical Dosimetry Programs are accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The Nuclear Medicine Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT).
