  PET/CT Certificate Program

Jefferson College of Health Professions announces the debut of the first formal PET/CT curriculum in the nation, starting in September 2006. Until now, there has been no formal independent training for this relatively new technology. Jefferson is offering a PET/CT certificate program to certified nuclear medicine technologists.

Details of the Program

  • Part-time, 12-month program, designed so that students can maintain their day time jobs. During the fall and spring semesters, students will attend classes at Jefferson's center city Philadelphia campus two nights a week. Clinical training is scheduled on an individual basis in the fall, spring and summer.
  • After completing the didactic and clinical requirements of the PET/CT program students may be eligible to take the ARRT (CT) and NMTCB PET certification exams.

Career Outlook

  • Technologists who are certified in both nuclear medicine (CNMT or ARRT(N)) and in ARRT (CT) are highly employable. Presently, employers are used to hiring technologists certified in only one of those areas. There are approximately 15 PET scanners in the Philadelphia region, and over 400 in the US.

Admission Requirements:

  • Certification as a nuclear medicine technologist: CNMT or ARRT(N)
