The Thomasina Award for Bravery in Teaching

THIS YEAR'S AWARD RECIPIENT...

Thomasina's companionship will be awarded for one year to the JCHP faculty member who best demonstrates bravery in the classroom. To be considered for this Award, candidates must submit the following:

• A narrative summary and/or example in 500 words or less of an innovative teaching idea, method or technique that was introduced or attempted during the 2005-2006 academic year.

  • The innovation can apply to any aspect of teaching – syllabus construction, delivery, assignments, assessment, etc.

• An explanation as to what prompted the innovation.
  
• An assessment as to whether or not the innovation was successful. And why or why not.

Submissions will be judged on creativity, relevance and gumption. The innovative idea does NOT have to be successful. In fact, Thomasina welcomes and encourages submission of failed attempts.

Submissions should be sent, non-electronically, to Thomasina, c/o the Center for Faculty Development, 1610 Edison.

Deadline for submissions is Monday May 14, 2007.

The Thomasina Award will be presented at Faculty Development Day. The winning idea will be shared with all faculty.
