We have designed our OTD program so that it is online, to meet the needs of busy professionals. Students at a geographic distance can take the entire program online, by connecting with classmates during the on-campus meetings from their home computers. Meetings are held on campus once at the beginning of each semester on a Saturday and once near the end of each semester. All required classes are completed on the scheduled day. Students taking the class "virtually" either connect at the same time and participate in class discussions OR complete an alternate assignment that is shared with the class if "live" participation is not possible.
All the classes in between are online. The format is primarily asynchronous (assignments done at your own pace at a time convenient for you), with some discussions or meetings with faculty mentors using synchronous learning (online at the same time). Orientation session to online learning activities is provided before your first class, so that you can learn exactly how the online learning activities work and practice so that you are comfortable working online. Additional support is available throughout your time in the program.
