The Doctorate in Occupational Therapy Program (OTD)
The clinical doctorate in occupational therapy (OTD) is a post-professional clinical degree that provides occupational therapists with advanced skills and knowledge to enhance your current practice and prepare you to be an innovator in traditional and emerging areas of occupational therapy. You will also have the opportunity to develop or refine your academic and clinical teaching skills.
This program is designed for individuals with a master’s degree in occupational therapy (or a bachelor's in occupational therapy and a master's in another field) who wish to pursue a doctoral degree in occupational therapy. For those who do not have a BS or MS in occupational therapy, Jefferson’s Combined BS/MSOT program or entry-level master’s program (EMOT) provide starting points that seamlessly interface with the OTD program.
Admission Requirements
- Completed application and $50 application fee ($25 online application fee)
- Official transcripts from all education institutions attended
- Personal Statement about your experience, background, and desired outcome goals for the OTD. Also please include your views on how you believe Jefferson's OTD will help you to achieve these goals. NOTE: you will do this instead of the essay on a
current ethical or moral healthcare issue
that is in the Application for Admission.
- OT license or NBCOT Certification
- Resume
- Two letters of recommendation
- A personal interview may be required
- GRE or MAT exam if Master's degree GPA is less than a 3.0
