Expertise and Research Interests
Interest is in the issues of delivering health care within communities. Also the concept of occupation within a health promotion framework, focusing on primary and secondary prevention with high risk children and their families, as well as homeless individuals transitioning back to mainstream society. A third area of interest is training of students in community health care models of practice, as well as training seasoned practitioners in transitioning practice from a pathology model to an evidence-based health promotion/populations model of practice.

Current Research Projects
- National survey of occupational therapists who work with the homeless population (collaborative with Tufts University).
-Using participatory action research, explore supports, barriers, and strategies to infuse evidence based practice into the daily work of therapists.
-Perceptions and strategies that persons who are homeless use to manage a chronic health condition.

Related Student Opportunities

- Participate in pilot studies to be used for grant submissions.
- Participate in development of materials from the evidence based processes project.
