JCHP Celebrates Allied Health Professions Week
November 5-11, 2006

Jobs in the allied health professions are plentiful, and growing in number. In fact, the healthcare industry is predicted to add nearly 3.5 million jobs between 2002 and 2012, and a large majority of these new jobs will be in nursing and the allied health professions. Health care is already the largest industry in the United States with five million people working in 80 allied health professions throughout the country.

To honor the current and future healthcare workers in our midst, JCHP celebrates Allied Health Professions Week November 5-11 with a special event every day. A JCHP Blood Drive will be held throughout the week—sign up in advance at Edison 710-712.

On Monday, check out the Nursing and Allied Health Career Day, from 12-2 p.m. at Jeff Alumni Hall. Over 200 employers will be there to answer questions and accept resumes.

Tuesday features a Student Snack Break, sponsored by the JCHP Alumni Association. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m, visit the 18th floor of the Edison building for popcorn and sodas. An Alumni panel and networking event is planned for Tuesday as well.

JCHP students and staff will share info about the College with peers in the Jefferson community at Jefferson Alumni Hall on Wednesday. During lunch, JCHP folks will hand out allied health trivia, health tips, and healthy snacks.

Where would we be without our excellent faculty and staff? On Thursday it’s time to celebrate them at the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day. All JCHP faculty and staff will receive a ticket entitling them to coffee and cookies between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the 18th floor.

Student Appreciation Day is Friday. JCHP students should be sure to stop in the lobby in the morning to pick up a special gift.

Finally, we end the week with the JCHP Fall Open House, where the public comes to campus to learn about allied health and nursing degree programs.
