Gerontology Approved as Jefferson’s Newest MSN Specialty
The Pennsylvania Board of Nursing approved Jefferson School of Nursing to offer a master's degree and post-master’s certificate in Gerontology Nursing starting in Fall 2010.
Graduates of the Gerontology program will be prepared to work with older adults in a variety of settings, including primary care and skilled nursing facilities, long term care, assisted care and acute care. Gerontology Advanced Practice nurses receive national certification through either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner's (AANP).

The 18-credit post-master's certificate includes the support and clinical components of the master's degree program. All didactic courses will be offered online.
