U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT NAMES OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
A ‘BEST CAREER’ OF 2007
Jefferson’s Occupational Therapy Grads Scored 98% Pass Rate on Licensure Exam
Department of Occupational Therapy Ranked 12th in the Nation,
1st in Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley
PHILADELPHIA — February 13, 2007 — U.S. News & World Report recently ranked occupational therapy among the top 25 “Best Careers of 2007.” Occupational therapy, a health profession that requires a master’s degree, requires both creativity and practicality. Its goal is essentially to help people with health problems rebuild their lives with everyday activities. According to Carolyn Baum, president of the American Occupational Therapy Association, “Occupational therapy is for somebody who loves to problem-solve.”
Thomas Jefferson University’s Occupational Therapy program is the best place in the mid-Atlantic to advance your career in occupational therapy. The program (in Jefferson’s College of Health Profession’s Department of Occupational Therapy) ranks twelfth in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools for 2005.” Jefferson’s Occupational Therapy program is the highest ranked in the city of Philadelphia, the Delaware Valley and the state.
Now there’s another reason to choose Jefferson for occupational therapy. Jefferson’s occupational therapy class of 2005 boasts a 98% pass rate — higher than the national average of 85% —on the 2006 National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT) National Licensure Exam in 2006.
Jefferson College of Health Professions (JCHP) is an integral part of one of the nation’s first academic health centers, Thomas Jefferson University, which also includes Jefferson Medical College and Jefferson College of Graduate Studies.
