Jefferson Chair of Pharmacy Practice Named ACCP Fellow

Cynthia Sanoski, PharmD, Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Jefferson School of Pharmacy in Thomas Jefferson University’s Jefferson College of Health Professions, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). The awarding of Fellow status is the highest honor ACCP can bestow on its members.

“Being elected as a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy is a recognition bestowed on very few pharmacists and is an acknowledgement by their peers of their professional accomplishments,” says Rebecca Finley, PharmD, Founding Dean, Jefferson School of Pharmacy. “This is a well-deserved honor and brings distinction to both Dr. Sanoski and the Jefferson School of Pharmacy.”

Fellowship in the College recognizes and rewards the highest levels of excellence in the practice and science of Clinical Pharmacy. To be eligible for this honor, candidates must be nominated by two Full Members or a current fellow of ACCP. In addition to exhibiting demonstrated excellence in pharmacy practice and/or research, fellows must have been a Full Member of ACCP for at least five years, have at least ten years of clinical pharmacy experience since receipt of their highest professional pharmacy degree, and have a record of sustained contributions to the ACCP organization. Dr. Sanoski has been a Full Member of ACCP since 2001 and has been practicing pharmacy for 11 years since she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. In addition, Dr. Sanoski has made significant contributions to ACCP through activities that include serving on various committees, serving as Chair of the 2008 Spring Forum Programming committee, reviewing meeting abstracts and journal manuscripts, serving as an officer in two of the organization’s Practice and Research Networks (Cardiology and Education & Training), giving presentations at ACCP meetings, and authoring several ACCP-sponsored publications.

“It is an honor to be recognized by my peers,” says Dr. Sanoski. “Given that this is one of the highest honors that ACCP can award to its members, I am truly honored to be acknowledged for my dedication to and achievements within the organization and clinical pharmacy practice.”

Jefferson School of Pharmacy will accept its first cohort of 75 students in fall 2008. JSP’s presence on Thomas Jefferson University’s academic health center campus offers students opportunities to learn side-by-side with medical, nursing, and other healthcare students. Students also benefit from a close affiliation with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital which, for more than 40 years, has been widely regarded as having one of the most outstanding hospital pharmacies in the country.
