Educational Options for Registered Nurses (RNs)

The RN options are designed for registered nurse (RN) students who have obtained their basic nursing education at either a diploma or associate degree program.

RN Plan of Study Option A: RN-BSN
RN Plan of Study Option B: RN-BSN for RNs with a Previous Non-Nursing Bachelors Degree
RN Plan of Study Option C: RN-BSN-MSN

All policies in regard to academic achievement, progression in the Nursing major and program completion for the Prelicensure student also apply to the registered nurse student.

Students who have been admitted to the RN-BSN option may be awarded up to 12 credits for previous study or experiences that can be validated through Portfolio Assessment. Students may prepare a Portfolio Assessment for Community Health Nursing, or Advanced Concepts of Nursing Leadership. Students may obtain guidelines for preparation of the Portfolio from the School of Nursing. A fee is assessed for evaluating the Portfolio and for posting credit awarded.

Nursing knowledge is validated by documentation of graduation from an accredited Associate Degree or Diploma nursing program. 35 credits for nursing knowledge will be awarded upon successful completion of the RN-BSN option.

The RN-BSN option is offered on Jefferson's main campus in Center City Philadelphia, PA and the AtlantiCare Campus in Atlantic City, NJ.

An admission interview is not required, but may be requested at the discretion of the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management or School of Nursing. If necessary, an admissions counselor may contact you for an interview.
