The RN-BSN-MSN option is designed for registered nurse (RN) students
who have obtained their basic nursing education at either a Diploma
or Associate Degree Program and wish to earn both the BSN and MSN.
The RN-BSN-MSN option enables RN students to qualify for admission
to graduate nursing education at Thomas Jefferson University through
a combined BSN/MSN option.
The goal of the RN-BSN-MSN option is to provide a mechanism for
RN students to earn the BSN and MSN degrees in a seamless integrated
curriculum. At the conclusion of the program, the BSN and MSN degrees
are awarded.
Students who have been admitted to the RN-BSN-MSN option may be
awarded up to 10.5 credits (two of three courses) for previous study
or experiences that can be validated through Portfolio Assessment.
Students may prepare a Portfolio Assessment for Community Health
Nursing, Advanced Concepts of Nursing Leadership, or Computers in
Nursing (two of three courses). Students may obtain guidelines for
preparation of the Portfolio from the Department of Nursing.
A fee is assessed for evaluating the Portfolio and for posting
credit awarded.
Nursing knowledge is validated by documentation of graduation from
an accredited Associate Degree or Diploma nursing program. Thirty-five
credits for nursing knowledge will be awarded to the student upon
successful completion of the RN-BSN option.
Students may complete the option in two years of study full-time
study or on a part-time basis.
