Student Achievements

The first DPT class graduates in August, 2007. During class night ceremonies the following awards were presented to students: Faculty Award – Lauren Susco, Diane Cornman-Levy Award – Rachael Ross, Class Award – Jordan Bicher, Service Awards – Christina Beaulieu, Laura Chowansky, Tricia Del Monaco, Rachael Ross, Meghan Silverman and Lauren Susco.  Five students were inducted into the Alpha Eta Society, a National Honor Society for Health Professionals – Erin Blaustein, Tricia Del Monaco, Caroline D’Antuono, Meghan Silverman and Lauren Susco.

Meghan Silverman was the recipient of the Otho Davis Scholarship Award from the Otho Davis Scholarship Foundation. The award is given to a student in the discipline of sports medicine, sports marketing or related field and is based on merit and financial need.

Karlene Lihota and Nicole Neidig spent five weeks at the UMC St. Radboud Hospital, Nijemgan, NL.  They participated in a collaborative research project: Implicit vs. explicit training for the NSD powerball in healthy subjects, under the direction of JAAP Brunnekreef.

PT students and faculty continue to provide healthcare and education to culturally diverse and underserved populations in the community setting through Hands of Hope, a student-run clinic at the Ridge Shelter in Philadelphia.  This year, fundraising efforts by the students enabled them to purchase a new treadmill and home gym set for the Hands of Hope clinic.

Students from physical and occupational therapy and faculty raised $2300 for the American Cancer Society, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fund raising event.

Dr. Paul Howard was recognized as the Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the first year students in the Jefferson Medical College at the Black and Blue Ball in December 2006.
