Otho Davis Scholarship-In recent years Thomas Jefferson Physical Therapy Program students have applied for and received awards from the Otho Davis Scholarship Fund. The fund, named for the former head trainer for the Philadelphia Eagles, awards a $5,000 scholarship annually to two students studying sports medicine, sports marketing or a related field.
Extracurricular Activities
Physical Therapy Society-Founded in 1992, the Physical Therapy Society provides an opportunity for PT students to get involved in activities both at TJU and in the community. Participation is intended to enhance relationships among the three classes of Physical Therapy students and to further expose students to community, health and physical therapy issues. General membership meetings are held monthly. Most activities are local and inexpensive.
Professional Societies
Students are encouraged to join the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association (PPTA).
The department encourages students to attend the APTA Student Conclave, PPTA Annual Conference or APTA Combined Section Meeting. Attendance at these meetings offers students an opportunity to network and learn from other professionals.
