Orientation Programs
 |
Student Ambassadors assist in welcoming our
new students to Jefferson.
|
Students will receive an Orientation packet in the mail from the Office of Student Affairs approximately one month prior to their scheduled Orientation date. This is a separate information packet from the acceptance packet sent to you from the Office of Admissions. You may also receive a packet from your academic area. Please do not submit your online RSVP until you have received your Orientation packet and reviewed all of the materials within.
The Office of Student Affairs is responsible for coordinating the orientation of incoming students. Completion of the Orientation program is mandatory. Once a student has been accepted into Jefferson, the Admissions Office sends notification to our office. Students are mailed information regarding their scheduled Orientation approximately 4-6 weeks prior to the program date, or as soon as they are accepted if that date is less than four weeks prior to Orientation. The Orientation packet will be mailed to the address on file with the Admissions Office - if that information is incorrect, please contact our office. General information on the scheduled Orientations may also be found below.
The Orientation program consists of the following elements:
- Advising and Registration for classes
- Academic Department/Program Information Session
- Training on the University’s Technology
- Taking picture for Photo ID
- Personal Safety Workshop
- University Services Presentation
- Overview of TJU and JCHP
- Purchasing of Uniforms and required supplies
- Honor Code/Civility Presentation
- FAQ Session for Parents and Other Guests
- Meeting with representative from various University Offices including: Financial Aid, University Health Services, Student Development Center, Housing and Residence Life, Activities Office, Career Development Office, Nutrition and Dietetics, Library Services, and the Alumni Office. Also, representatives will be available to answer your questions about the school-sponsored health insurance and dental plans.
- Locker Reservations for the 2009-10 academic year ($10 cash deposit required)
If you have not received your Orientation packet, or have misplaced the materials contained within, you may access some of documents using the following links:

Welcome Day
Welcome Day takes place the day before the start of the fall semester. Participation in Welcome Day is a required component to starting your education at Jefferson. All incoming students should plan on being in attendance. The presentations given at Welcome Day will build upon the knowledge you have already gained through attending your Orientation program. This second component to your overall orientation to Thomas Jefferson University is designed to provide you with the means for a successful start to your educational endeavors.
