Jefferson Information Technologies
Our Organization
Jeff IT is organized around technical areas of expertise as well as functional service areas. Our attitude is based on providing quality service to our clients, and thus our organization is flexible and puts a premium on personal initiative, cross-training of staff, and a team-oriented approach to problem-solving.
The main organizational groups reflect the needs of our clients and fall into the following broad service areas:
Administration. This consists of the Office of the Chief Information Officer. Functional areas under his direct management include finance and budgeting, strategic planning, IT security, administration issues, and the overall client services portfolio.
Client Services. Assisting clients on a one-to-one basis, the Client Services group provides support services. Our Client Service Desk is on hand to receive and manage all reported incidents. Along with these specialized services, Client Services is involved with interdepartmental renovations and relocations across the Jefferson Campus. The Client Services group is responsible for the daily deployment of new hardware as well as upgrades and moves. Client Services also specializes in Student Wireless Support, interfacing directly with our new and existing student community.
Applications. At the heart of technology services are the large, medium, and small scale applications and programs that have historically providing automated services in the areas of finance, accounting, human resources, supply chain, time-keeping, student information, registrar, course management, among other applications. Included in this group are the increasingly important services associated with Web development, departmental sites, and pages.
Infrastructure. Infrastructure services manages the server hardware located in our data center locations, including server hardware installation and configuration as well as monitoring server availability, server health, local firewall and anti-virus, load balancing, and performance tuning. Infrastructure is also responsible for network user management, domain storage, central authentication and directory servers, as well as consultation. This team also acts as a liaison with other organization service providers to make available additional services including: Data backup and restoration, disaster recovery, DNS hosting and network firewall support.
Clinical. Jeff IT is responsible for the roll out of Allscripts Electronic Medical Records at Jefferson University Physicians ambulatory practices. With EMR the JUP practices have gone paperless and Jeff IT continues to launch and support the EMR modules within JUP. JUP practices have replaced paper charts and the practices are entering past medical history, active problems, E-prescribing, and call processing. In the near future, additional EMR modules such as Order, Note, and Dictation will be rolled out.
