Jefferson Alumni Email

You may have finished your education here, but you can still share your pride in being affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University.  Starting on July 1st, 2013, graduating students will be provided with a lifelong alumni email account that shows your affinity to your alma mater.

Following your official graduation date, your Jefferson.edu student email account will remain active for a designated period of time.  Following that period of time, you will be transitioned to a new Alumni email account. Your exact transition date will be determined by your graduation date.  Upcoming graduation dates and their corresponding Alumni email transition dates are listed below.  For more detailed information on Jefferson Alumni email, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions section below.

 

Upcoming Graduations and Alumni Email Transitions

December 2013 and May 2014 Graduates will be transitioned on September 1, 2014

August 2014 Graduates will be transitioned on December 1, 2014

The “Transition Date” refers to the date upon which your student account will be converted to your new alumni account. For users with Jefferson employee (Exchange Online) accounts, you will have an alumni email account created for you; however, your Exchange email will not be migrated. I have many different roles within Jefferson. Will I still receive an Alumni email account?

Jefferson understands that you may have or obtain several different roles throughout your time with us.  You may start out as an employee and then enroll in classes, start out as a student and be employed by Jefferson when you graduate, etc.  Depending on your role(s), your Jefferson email account(s) may be processed differently.  Please use the table below to find your role and determine how your Jefferson student, employee and alumni email accounts will be handled accordingly.

Will my email address change when I am transitioned to an Alumni email account?

Your new email address will be changed from firstname.lastname@jefferson.edu to firstname.lastname@alumni.jefferson.edu.   Please note that this conversion is automatic.  No action is required on your part for the conversion to take place. 

Once your email address has changed, you will no longer be able to receive email sent to your @jefferson.edu address. If you are currently using your @jefferson.edu email address in professional correspondences, resumes, etc. Jeff IT recommends updating your contact information to reflect your new Alumni email address just prior to your scheduled migration.  It is also a good idea to make your frequent contacts aware that your Jefferson email address will be changing.

How do I login to my Alumni email account?

You can access your Alumni email account from the Alumni JeffMail login page (http://alumni.jefferson.edu).  You will continue to use your same campus key and password to login.

Will all my student email be moved to my new Alumni account?

All emails in your Jefferson student email account will be migrated to your new Alumni email account during your scheduled transition.  Contacts, settings and Google Docs associated with your student email account will not be migrated.  More information on these items can be found below.

I currently have a Jefferson Exchange email account.  Will I still get a Jefferson Alumni email account?

Yes, you will receive a Jefferson Alumni email account; however, your Jefferson Exchange email will not be migrated to your Alumni account – both will remain separate active accounts.

Will my student email contacts be migrated along with my email?

Any contacts that you currently have in your Jefferson student email account will not be migrated to your new Alumni account.  If you wish to keep your Jefferson student email contacts and transfer them to your Alumni account, Jeff IT recommends exporting your student Gmail contacts prior to your scheduled Alumni migration date.  Once your Jefferson email has been migrated, you can then easily import your contacts into your new Alumni account.

Will Jefferson Alumni email still be hosted by Gmail?

Yes, your Alumni email account will continue to be hosted by Gmail.

Will my student email settings be automatically applied to my Alumni email account?

Any email settings that you currently have configured in your Jefferson student email account will not be migrated to your new Alumni account.  These settings may include email forwarding, folders, labels, etc.  Jeff IT recommends making a note of these settings prior to your scheduled migration so that you can reapply the settings to your Alumni account if desired.

How do I change my Alumni email password?

To change your Alumni email password, click the Change your Campus Key Password link from the Alumni JeffMail login page (http://alumni.jefferson.edu).

Can I access my Alumni email from a mobile device?

Jefferson Alumni email can be accessed by logging into the Alumni JeffMail login page (http://alumni.jefferson.edu).  Mobile device access to Alumni email is currently not supported.

What will happen to my student email account once I have been migrated to my Alumni account?

Once you are migrated to your new Alumni email account, your Jefferson student email account will become inactive.  You will no longer be able to login to your student email account from the JeffMail login page.  Also, any emails sent to your inactive student email account will be marked as undeliverable.

Can I use my Alumni email account for employee and/or business correspondences?

Jefferson Alumni email should not be used in Jefferson employee or business correspondences. Additionally, Alumni email should not be used to transmit ePHI or any other sensitive information associated with Jefferson University and Hospitals.

Will I be able to access my Google Docs once I am migrated to Alumni email?

Any files that are currently stored in your student Google Docs account will not be migrated to your new Alumni account.  If you wish to retain these files, Jeff IT recommends downloading them to your computer prior to your migration.
