Devices that are supported are those that can run Intellisync software, and BlackBerry. In order to be able to run Intellisync, a device must be running Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.0, or Palm OS 4.1 or greater. Blackberries must be 8100 series or above. At this time, Jeff IT does not support the iPod or the iPhone.
Configure JeffMail on your BlackBerry
You must have a BES data package from AT&T in order to configure your email to be sent to your BlackBerry device:
- Scroll to and select the “BlackBerry Setup” icon
- Scroll to and select the “Personal Email Setup” icon.
- You should now see “Email Account Setup”. On this screen, enter your email address and JeffMail password, then select “next”.
- The following message should appear, “you have successfully configured access to yourname@jefferson.edu”. Scroll down and click “OK”.
(Note: If you receive a message on your BlackBerry “We were unable to configure your email account”, just scroll down and re-enter your email address and password. This usually happens when the email address or password was incorrect.) - Press the “menu” key and select “Close”.
(The menu key is usually to the left of the trackball and has the BlackBerry logo on it.) - You should now have a new icon on your main application screen. The icon looks like an envelope with a globe on the lower right corner. As you scroll to that icon your email address will appear on the bottom of your display. If you select that icon you should have a new message that will say, “Congratulations, you have successfully setup your email account”. You should start receiving new messages in approximately 20 minutes.
Changing your JeffMail password on the BlackBerry
When your JeffMail password changes, you will have to change it on your BlackBerry. The following are instructions for making that change.
- Scroll to and select the “BlackBerry Setup” icon on your device.
- Scroll to and select the “Personal Email Setup” icon.
- Once the screen loads, scroll to and select “Email Accounts”. (This will navigate you to another screen and your email address will be listed at the top of the screen.)
- Scroll to and select “Edit”.
(You will be taken to the “General Settings” page.) - Scroll down to the “Password” field. Delete the information in this field and enter your new password.
- Once the new password has been entered, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select “Save”.
(You may be asked one more time for your new password) - Once you save select the “Menu” key and select “Close”.
Instructions for configuring JeffMail using AT&T’s website

You must have a BIS data package from AT&T in order to configure your email to be sent to your BlackBerry device
On your PC, open Internet Explorer and follow http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/solutions/email-messaging/bis-login.jsp.

Once you access this page follow the link that states “Click here to continue directly to BlackBerry Internet Service Login page”. It’s located towards the top of the page.

After the page loads select “Create New Account”. You will need to have your Device PIN and IMEI number available. These can be located on the box your BlackBerry came in, usually on the side with the barcode.

You will then be prompted to create a username and password. It is recommended that you use your campus key for the username and a password that you will not forget. This information is for the BlackBerry page, these will not change and do not expire.

Once you have created the account and logged in, you will be prompted to enter your email address and password. Use your campus key (xxx001@jefferson.edu) as well as your JeffMail password and click “next”.

You should receive a message stating your account has been created, you should start receiving messages in 15-20 minutes.
Please Note: It is important that you remember your user name and password. When you change your JeffMail password, you will have to login to the BlackBerry page, using the account you created and edit the stored password for your Jefferson.edu mail account.
To request a BES Account
Please submit a TJUH ISRF (Information Systems Request Form) by going to http://myrequests.tjuh.org/index.cfm. Choose the 1st category labeled “Accounts/Logon IDs/Application Access”, and select BES PDA Syncing. Indicate that you have a device and wish to have a BES account created.
Synchronize your BlackBerry with your Outlook Contacts (8800 Series)
- These directions are to be used for configuring BlackBerry Desktop Manager. If you have not installed desktop Manager, you can do so by running the software disk provided with your BlackBerry. Insert the disk into the CD/DVD drive and select “begin”, then select the “BlackBerry Desktop Software” tab.
- At the next screen click the red link on the lower left corner of the window that says “Install BlackBerry Desktop Software”.
- During the install you will be prompted to select an “Integration Option”, when you are prompted, check off the option for BlackBerry Internet Service and then continue.
- After the software is installed, BlackBerry Desktop Manager should automatically run. The Desktop Manager Window will open automatically.
- Plug the USB cable that comes with the BlackBerry into the PC and attach the other end to the BlackBerry.
- Under the “Options” menu, select connection settings. When the “Connection Settings” dialogue box opens, select “Detect”. You can now configure your BlackBerry to sync with Outlook contacts using the following instructions:
- Start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
- Connect your BlackBerry to your computer via USB.
- Click Synchronize.
- Check the “Synchronize Organizer Data” checkbox.
- Click the “Configuration” tab and then click the “Configuration Synchronization setting for your desktop organizer program”.
- Click the “Address Book” checkbox.
- After selecting the “Address Book” checkbox, the “Choose Application” dialogue box opens. Highlight Microsoft Outlook and then click OK.
- That’s it, now you can go back and select the “Synchronize now” button at the synchronize dialog.
