======================== JeffNEWS, August 1, 1995 ======================== THE JEFFERSON 2000 FUND Friends of West Park Hospital Scholarship Benefits Graduate Nursing Students ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Friends of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital - Ford Road Campus, formerly the Friends of West Park Hospital, recently contributed $90,000 to create a scholarship fund for students in the graduate nursing program at the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS). The scholarship is known as The Friends of West Park Hospital Scholarship, commemorating the original name of the group who worked and raised funds for West Park Hospital before it joined Jefferson. At their June meeting, members presented the University funds to Lawrence Abrams, EdD, dean of CAHS and University vice president for student affairs. The endowment fund is expected to grow through continued donations of the proceeds from the Ford Road Campus gift shop. The $3,000 annual scholarship will be administered through CAHS and awarded to a master's degree nursing student. The first scholarship recipient, for the 1995-96 academic year, is Carolyn Rebalsky, former director of nursing at the Ford Road Campus. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Information provided by: Editor, JeffNEWS (215) 955-6204 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
