======================== JeffNEWS, August 1, 1995 ======================== Jeffersonians in the News Emanuel Rubin, MD, chairman of the department of pathology, anatomy and cell biology and colleagues from Barcelona, Spain published their findings on the increased sensitivity of women to the effects of alcoholism in the July 12 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. This story was featured on CNN and the "Today Show," as well as the New York Times. Attending the press conference in Washington were representatives from the Associated Press, Knight Ridder, Gannett, UPI, Reuters, Interpress and King publishing wire services as well as ABC radio, Conus TV and Voice of America. News of Dr. Rubin's research was also covered by all local TV news stations as well as National Public Radio's "All Things Considered." The division of neonatology's use of liquid ventilation for infants with respiratory problems continues to get national attention. Jay Greenspan, MD, director of the division was quoted in the national and international editions of the Wall Street Journal as well as in New York Newsday. An interview with Michael Mastrangelo, MD, director of the Melanoma Program, and Jefferson's involvement with a new clinical trial on a vaccine for prostate cancer, appeared on popular cable station CNBC June 20.
