===================== JeffNEWS, May 1, 1995 ===================== THE JEFFERSON 2000 FUND Jeffersonians Add Record $1.5 Million To 2000 Fund Campaign ----------------------------------------------------------- Jeffersonians throughout the University have contributed an impressive $1.52 million to The Jefferson 2000 Fund campaign, with pledges still being received. By following the slogan for this phase of the campaign and "dealing yourselves in," you played a vital role in the effort to reach our overall goal of $200 million and support the campaign's objectives. "I'm encouraged that the donations made to The 2000 Fund by our Jefferson family significantly exceed what was committed in our last campaign," said University president Paul C. Brucker, MD. "I thank everyone who has participated in this phase. You are helping to keep Jefferson strong in a changing environment that presents new challenges to all of us." "People are more inclined to help those who help themselves," said Kenneth W. Moore, vice president for development. "Exceeding $1.5 million, with pledges still being made, indicates strongly to our other friends and contributors in the outside community that we Jeffersonians stand by our institution." The Jefferson family's commitment also helped The Jefferson 2000 Fund to surpass the halfway mark, with $106 million in gifts and pledges raised. One third of those employees who pledged gifts to the campaign designated specific areas for their support: patient care, financial aid for Jefferson Medical College and College of Allied Health Sciences students, or fellowships for College of Graduate Studies students. The remaining two- thirds of the pledges are intended for unrestricted support of the University. People from many areas of the Jefferson community have been involved in implementing various aspects of the employee campaign. In addition, long before the kickoff, The 2000 Fund Employee Advisory Committee was planning this endeavor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Information provided by: Editor, JeffNEWS (215) 955-6204 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
