Godwin Jr., MD, JMC '55, endows a new professorship at Jefferson Medical College (JMC). Dr. Godwin, an allergist and clinical associate professor of medicine at Jefferson, specified in his will that the named professor be involved in the research, study and treatment of prostate cancer. Joseph S. Gonnella, MD, senior vice president and dean, JMC, recently announced that Leonard Gomella, MD, is the first to hold the Bernard W. According to Dr. Mulholland, 200,000 men in this country will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year. The deadly disease is the most prevalent form of cancer in males. Before coming to Jefferson, Dr. Gomella completed a fellowship at the National Cancer Institute.
