THE JEFFERSON 2000 FUND
Employee Campaign Begins February 9

Jefferson has received a vote of confidence from the community in the
form of substantial support for The Jefferson 2000 Fund, a $200-million
capital fundraising effort launched in 1992 to help the University meet
the challenges of the next century.

With more than $100 million already raised from corporations,
foundations and individuals, including alumni, friends and grateful
patients, Jefferson now turns to its employees for a similar "thumbs up"
in a Universitywide campaign scheduled to begin February 9.

"When the goal of The 2000 Fund was set, we were counting on gifts from
every possible source," said Kenneth W. Moore, vice president for
development. "Employees have always done a wonderful job of supporting
the University's goals in past campaigns, most recently The Decade Fund
in the 1980s."

This tradition of willingness on the part of Jeffersonians to join in a
cooperative effort, even when times are tough, will definitely benefit
the current campaign, which has "Deal Yourself In" as its theme..

The 2000 Fund gives employees the opportunity to help Jefferson:

   o deliver the finest patient care through state-of-the-art facilities
     and comprehensive services

   o enrich students' educational experiences at Jefferson Medical College,
     the College of Graduate Studies and the College of Allied Health Sciences
     through undergraduate scholarships, low-cost loans, and fellowships for
     graduate students

   o provide general support for the University

Jeffersonians will receive their pledge cards with their Thursday,
February 9, paychecks and will be asked to return them by Wednesday,
March 1. Please be assured that all employee gifts are both voluntary
and confidential.

Employees wishing to make anonymous contributions may hand-deliver them
to 315 Ben Franklin House, 834 Chestnut Street, in care of Arlene Adair,
associate for donor relations.
