=========================== JeffNEWS, December 13, 1994 =========================== Jefferson Welcomes Three New Members to Board of Trustees --------------------------------------------------------- The University's board of trustees has elected three new members: Edward G. Boehne, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia; James E. Ksansnak, executive vice president of finance and personnel for ARAMARK Corporation, and Andrew Sislo, Esq., deputy general counsel and senior legislative counsel to Pennsylvania Governor Robert Casey. Edward G. Boehne ---------------- Mr. Boehne, as president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, is in charge of the bank's many responsibilities, which range from providing paper and electronic payment services to depository institutions, acting as banker for the United States Treasury, and supervising bank holding companies in much of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. He is also active in determining the nation's monetary policy through the Federal Open Market Committee and setting the discount rate. Mr. Boehne is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he also earned the degree of doctor of philosophy in economics. Active in community affairs, he has served as a director of the Urban League of Philadelphia, a partner in the Urban Affairs Partnership and a director of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, among others. He is currently chairman of the board of managers of Pennsylvania Hospital, vice chairman of the University City Science Center and a director of the Ben Franklin Technology Center. James E. Ksansnak ----------------- As executive vice president of finance and personnel for ARAMARK Corporation, which he joined in May 1986, Mr. Ksansnak is responsible for financial matters, planning and development, tax matters, internal audit, information technology and human resources across all of ARAMARK's lines of business. Previously, he was manager of the Philadelphia office, partner in the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Co., which he joined after graduation from St. Joseph's University in 1962. Mr. Ksansnak holds memberships in the American Institute of Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). He has been chairman of PICPA's Committee on Cooperation with Attorneys, chairman on Technical Meetings and a member of the Executive Committee of the organization's Philadelphia Chapter. He became an active member of the Philadelphia-Delaware Valley Chapter of the Planning Executives Institute (now known as The Planning Forum) in 1964. He was president of the chapter in 1971 and was national chairman of the institute's board in 1981. Mr. Ksansnak has been involved in numerous community activities. Among them were serving as a Presbyterian Medical Center Trustee from 1981 to 1990; and, from 1974 to 1994, as a board member of the 12-branch Metropolitan Philadelphia Young Men's Christian Association, of which he was chairman from 1987 to 1991. He is presently a member of the board of both the American Cancer Society, Philadelphia Division, Inc., and the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition, as well as a member of the Knights of Malta. He serves on the board of CSS Industries, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange company. Andrew Sislo, Esq. ------------------ Mr. Sislo was invited to join Jefferson's board as an appointee of Governor Bob Casey. Since he was named deputy general counsel and senior legislative counselor to the Governor in 1987, his significant accomplishments include providing legal counsel to the office of the Governor on legislation creating the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority (for the City of Philadelphia), serving as legal counsel to the Pennsylvania Local Tax Reform Commission and negotiating and co-drafting articles of incorporation for The Ports of Philadelphia and Camden, Inc., a nonprofit subsidiary of the Delaware River Port Authority. From 1980 to 1987, Mr. Sislo was legal counsel to the Local Government Commission of the Pennsylvania Legislature, where his significant achievements included serving as legal counsel to the task forces of the local government commissions for the revision of both the Pennsylvania Real Estate Tax Sale Law and the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code. During that same period, he also engaged in the private practice of law. From 1979 to 1987, he was solicitor for the Riverside School District in Taylor, Pennsylvania, where he negotiated collective bargaining agreements, engaged in labor arbitration and was instrumental in new school construction.
