=========================== JeffNEWS, February 21, 1995 ========================== PeopleNOTES o Jefferson cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instructors Pat Anasiewicz, RN, MSN, MBA, and Robin Estadt, RN, MSN, CCRN, took infant CPR on the road! This volunteer effort was an exciting 10-member-family educational experience in the home of a Northeast Philadelphia newborn. Ms. Anasiewicz and Ms. Estadt, both nursing service staff development coordinators, will maintain contact with the family to answer their questions and address their concerns about ongoing needs. This is another example of the Jefferson family volunteering to reach out into the community. o Several Jeffersonians contributed chapters to the recent book, Talking Health with Dr. Brian McDonough, published by Temple University Press. They are: Gerald J. Marks, MD, professor of surgery/colorectal surgery and director of the Comprehensive Rectal Cancer Center - "Colon Disorders and Cancer"; José‚ F. Caro, MD, the Magee Professor of Medicine and department chairman, and Rishi Rastogi, MD, who had trained under Dr. Caro - "Diabetes"; Cheryl Clifford Marco, RD, manager of outpatient nutrition, department of nutrition and dietetics, Jefferson Hospital - "Nutrition and Disease Prevention"; Robert Thayer Sataloff, MD, DMA, professor of otolaryngology and director of the Arts Medicine Center - "Voice Disorders." o The technologists of the Blood Bank's transfusion unit took first place at the University's annual Safety Fest, "Islands of Paradise," for the best display of a safety program. The department's displays, "Islands of Safety" and "Ticket to Safety Paradise," depicted a progression of protective equipment used in the laboratory and a display of the unit's safety standards, protocols and procedures. Barb Gawin, BB(ASCP), medical technologist III, and Dana Morrison, MT(ASCP), senior technologist for quality assurance, represented the department at the Safety Fest, wearing "custom-designed" tropical lab coats. In addition, Dawna Powell, MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), medical technologist III and department safety observer, received an individual award for her contribution to keeping Jefferson a safer place to work. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Information provided by: Editor, JeffNEWS (215) 955-6204 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
